http://www.bangkoktimesonline.com Patients line up every day at Thailand's Thamkrabok Temple to give up heroin. The monks give addicts a herbal tonic to induce vomiting and clear the toxins in the blood. Pete Docherty (linked with Kate Moss and Amy Winehouse) and the frontman of the Libertines and Babyshambles visited the temple, but never stayed the course. The treatment as well as the accommodation is free, only the food has to be paid. As the monastery lives on alms, donations are welcome. They may be put in one of the donation-boxes or be given directly to the abbot. BANGKOK, April 26 - Anti-establishment "red-shirt" supporters on Thursday began to rally at Ratchaprasong intersection in downtown Bangkok, where the bloody crackdown took place in 2010, to commemorate the event, go6TV's JJ.Sathon reported. The rally is led by Payao Akahad, whose daughter Kamolkade, an assistant nurse, was found shot dead in Pathum Wanaram Temple on May 19, 2010. Today would have been her daughter's 27th birthday. During March to May 2010, red-shirt supporters held street rally demanding the then Abhisit Vejjajiva government to resign. The rally ended with confrontation with military, resulting in 92 deaths and about 2,000 injuries.
