Whilst some of the analysis in this piece is ok it still only gives voice to other Western hacks and Thai rich kids.
It also completely omits the Bangkok Massacre of 2010 when 100 pro-democracy activists were murdered in cold blood by the Thai Army under the orders of Abhisit Vejjajiva. To leave that out shows the little regard Western journalists have for the lives of ordinary Thais.
I also think if these hacks spent one minute talking to ordinary Thais rather than the gaggle of drunkards who hang out at the odious FCCT they might actually find out what is going on rather than rehashing the same old same old hackneyed analysis that we've heard 100 times before.

This piece by Reuters about Buddha Issara is nothing less than a joke and reveals how the Western media distort reality and lie about Thailand.
Edited out entirely are key facts that Issara himself was at the head of a violent, racist, neo-fascist and criminal gang who used threats to extort money and who were implicated in torture and even murder.
How Reuters can publish this whitewash drivel with a straight face is astonishing but very very typical of the Western media in Bangkok.
First for them are their media visas and nice lifestyles in Bangkok - even if it means covering up for violent neo-fascists.
