The Router Setup Software Won't Detect the Router
- bypass the setup and go right into the router's management interface to setup your wireless network.
Go into your computer's network settings. In Windows 7, they are located in Control Panel|Network and Internet|Network Sharing Center|Change Adapter Settings.

Right-click and select Properties of Local Area Connection. Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP v4). In the TCP/IP v4 windows that opens, click the radio button, and select "Use the following IP address."

Under "IP address" you type an address that matches the default IP address of your router, a string of numbers broken up by periods. You'll find this in the router's documentation.

For instance, if the default IP of the router is "192.168.1.1" you should type in "192.168.1.2"—making the last number different prevent an IP address conflict with the router but places your computer and the router on the same network.

Under "Subnet mask," type in "255.255.255.0"—this is the subnet mask for your typical home network, and for "Gateway" type in the default IP of the router—in this example it would be the "192.168.1.1" address.

The Problem: After having a router for a while, you notice that every now and then it shuts itself off.

Quick Fix: This is usually caused by overheating. Many of us leave our routers running 24/7. As it ages, the router can become more inefficient at cooling. Check to ensure the cooling vents on the router are not obstructed. Unplug the router for a bit. Use a can of compressed air to clear out as much dust as you can from the vents.

The death toll from the March 11th quake and tsunami in northeastern Japan has risen to 11,578.
The National Police Agency said on Friday morning that 16,451 people are listed as missing, bringing the number of dead or missing to over 28,000.

The male panda Ri-Ri seemed a bit restless and walked around the cage, while the female Shin-Shin sat down to savor the bamboo -- the animal's favorite food.

Zookeepers say when the quake struck on March 11th, the new arrivals got excited and ran around their cages. They calmed down about 2 hours later.

The pandas came from a breeding center in China's Sichuan Province, and had experienced a major earthquake there 3 years ago.

Giant pandas debut at Ueno Zoo in Tokyo

Two giant pandas leased from China have made their public debut at Tokyo's Ueno Zoo.

Their coming out on Friday coincided with the reopening of the zoo, which was closed due to rolling power outages following the earthquake.

Long queues formed at the entrance, and visitors rushed to see the pandas when the gates opened. A large crowd gathered to take pictures of the pair, the first pandas to be kept at the zoo in 3 years.

‎‎1) Keep your phone as far away from your body as possible. This means, don’t put it in your breast or pant pocket. Put it in your purse or use a nonmetallic belt clip. (The intensity of radiation diminishes sharply with distance, says TheTimes.)

2) Use a headset or earpiece or put your phone on speaker mode when talking.

3) Avoid Bluetooth-powered headsets if you can because these, too, emit radiation, albeit at lower levels.

4) If your message can be relayed in 160 characters, text it.

5) If you must put your phone to your ear, keep it as far away as possible.

6) Do not put your phone to your ear immediately after dialing. Wait till you are connected to the other party. (This is because during the “handshake” phase, when your phone connects to the carrier, more radiation is emitted.)

7) During a conversation, tilt your phone away from your ear when talking and only bring it close to your ear when you are listening. (This is because emission of radiation is lesser when the phone is receiving than when transmitting signals.

8) Do not use your phone when in a crowded and noisy place because your tendency is to press your phone harder to your ear. Go outside.

9) Avoid using your mobile phone while (gasp) mobile. (This is because when you are moving rapidly, in a car for example, the phone will emit bursts of radiation to connect with different signal towers.)

10) Avoid using your phone where the signal is weak. (This is because if the signal is weak, the phone will work harder, thus emit more radiation.)
